Oh the many, many ways to learn!

Here's a little update for you to see what we are working on in Kindergarten at McKenzie!

This week and last...

Mrs. De La Paz's and Ms. Garcia's class made some AMAZING patterns. They have learned AB, ABB, AAB, ABC and more! Using different colors of clowns, they each created their own pattern and took it home to "read" to their family.

Mrs. O'Keefe's class is SPARKLING! They made their names using foil star stickers, complete with a self-portrait! We have some budding artists in that room, not to mention LOTS who are learning letters.

Miss Hollingsworth's class has been working in science with the five senses. They learned how to use their sense of sight along with the help of a magnifying glass just the other day. You will have to stop by and read their class "brainstorm" of what they discovered as scientists!

Mrs. Rogers' students are becoming whizzes at patterns! You should see them working in their learning-center stations! We certainly have some Kindergarten experts!

AND

The weather has started to change,
there is rain in the air,
the season has turned to Fall,
and rhyming is EVERYWHERE!

FOUR teachers :)

Hi everyone!

As it turns out, McKenzie no longer has three K teachers! We have four! Mrs. O'Keefe has joined our "ranks"! :) She spent a lot of good time preparing her classroom as we split up our over-flowing classes. Her room is beautiful too, with a fun dramatic play window, and lots of animal prints to make it all flow together.

This week at McKenzie we are jumping in to more learning! Our goal is for everyone in Kindergarten to KNOW their letter by October 1st and their letter sounds by November 1st. We are working so hard at practicing all our letters in our names, the alphabet, saying the sounds, and learning to spell new words. This week we are talking about what we "like" as we practice over and over the four letters that make up that word!

Computer lab has started! Thanks to some amazing teachers and helpers at our school, Kindergarten is working hard in the computer lab on reading-based programs. Today the kids were exclaiming that the computer knew their name and they spelled it on their own! It was so fun to see those minds getting excited over their fun new way to learn.

We are so thrilled to be in to week three here at McKenzie; we know our schedule, our routine, and how to act at school. There is SO much more to come... stayed "tuned"!
